lowは、高さが「低い」という意味のほか、「レベルが低い」というニュアンスがあり、身分や地位が「低い」「卑しい」、能力が「低い」という意味でも用いられる。価格が「安い」という意味でも用いられ、「低価格」はlow price。反意語はhigh。人の背丈はtall,shortを用いて表すため、high,lowは用いない。
