stillは「動きがない」という意味をもち「じっとした」「静止した」という意味のほか、「しんとした」「静かな」という意味でも用いられる。心が「穏やかな」、声が「低い」という意味もある。quietにも「静かな」という意味があるが、quietが人の性格や態度が「無口な、控えめな」という意味で用いられる。silentは「全く音がない」という意味となる。
