gainは「価値のあるものを、努力しながら時間をかけて手に入れる」という意味。getは「その場でつかむ、得る」という語感があるが、英英辞典のなかには'to gradually get'と説明しているものもあり、経験や信頼、評価といった主に目に見えないものを時間をかけ、徐々に得られるものに対して使われる。obtainはモノや能力などを、努力したうえで獲得する、という意味である。
