【派生語】

・	discussion：議論、討議、審議、討論、話し合い

discussは「建設的に話し合う」という意味で使われる。「話し合う」「議論する」「討議する」である。talk aboutは「～について話し合う」という意味で、例えば友達同士で話し合うときのように、日常的に行われる話し合いのイメージである。
debateは日本語としても使われている「ディベート、討論会」のように、ある議題について賛成、反対それぞれの立場から討論する、という意味である。argueは筋道立てて説明はするものの「主張する」「口論する」というニュアンスが生じる。
